Jaipur Art Summit in its Metro Edition 2018 starts in New Delhi

The Jaipur Art Summit in its Metro Edition 2018 kick started in the capital yesterday amidst a lot of excitement. Eminent Filmmaker Muzaffar Ali and Director General National Gallery of Modern Art opened the evening by lighting a lamp.

This Sixth Edition of Jaipur Art Summit in the first of its Metro Edition series to be held Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi is scheduled from 4 - 10 October 2018.  Curated by Artist Kiran Chopra, the week long program is three dimensional that includes Exhibition of Artworks, Art Competition for Colleges and Talk shows. The exhibition that opens on 4th for public viewing is called ‘Cross Border Art Connect’ and includes the work of 22 artists from India, South Korea, Sri lanka, Belgium and Bangladesh

The summit envisages stimulating a cultural exchange, which forms the basis for inspiring new art production and forge important links between India and rest of the world.

Art Summit Foundation is a not-for-profit organization established to promote different forms of art and create a synergy of traditional, tribal and contemporary art among the fraternity and public at large.

The flagship activity of the foundation is Jaipur Art Summit. In its last five editions, hosted in Jaipur, it has showcased the creative arts across multiple mediums and formats which exist in India.

Shailendra Bhatt, Founder Director, Jaipur Art Summit says, “The Metro Edition of Jaipur Art Summit shall be a celebration of art for every art enthusiast to understand the cross border art connect of these last five years of the summit. We look forward to stepping out of our boundaries and touching newer territories in an endeavor to broaden our horizon and connect with newer audiences.”

“KNMA was established with the sole aim of bringing Indian Modern and Contemporary art and artists to the front. It has always been our focus to promote new talent and create platforms like such to motivate young artists. It is our pleasure to host the art competition for the college students in association with Jaipur Art Summit in its metro Edition 2018,” says Kiran Nadar, Founder-Director Kiran Nadar Museum of Art.

“The idea behind putting this exhibition was to create a cross border art connect, not just in terms of geographical locations but also perspectives. Where on one hand, the viewer may get caught between the dichotomies of regions, a closer look will ensure the consistency that comes with the word - Art. In an attempt to join as many people as we can, the show has been branched out to include an art competition for young artists as well as talk show and guest lecture for general audiences and art enthusiasts,” says curator Kiran Chopra.

Jaipur Art Summit has had the legacy of having some of the finest artists in the country coming together on a common platform. The prime objective of the summit is to bring together artists working in different mediums and genres, cultural art players, art historians, critics, institutions and galleries from all over the country and abroad with a view to preserve, innovate and promote the projection and dissemination of the Contemporary and modern Indian art-forms.
