Art In Cinema A Three Day Film Festival KNMA - Vinod Bhardwa

Art In Cinema A Three Day Film Festival KNMA - Vinod Bhardwa

The most effective means to understand the intent of the artist and his artist practice is through his films, as moving image hold the greatest appeal to the most basic of human instincts. Biopics serve the purpose to the fullest in giving the viewer a rich glimpse of the moods, eccentricities, passion  and temperament  of the artist and how his art is an amalgamation of all these.

Video art has successfully carved out its place within the contemporary art world and artists today are utilizing it to create video works or incorporating it with other mediums to build a distinctly complex narrative. Through the Art in Cinema initiative, KNMA strived towards bringing a deeper understanding and appreciation of the artistic practice, not just as a process but also as the completed work.

Art in Cinema was about films by artists and on artists. The first day opened with the screening of two new films; Once Upon a Holy Crow and One for the Road by Gopi Gajwani. Other important films that were screened were Works & Words (on Akbar Padamsee) by Laurent Bregeat, Couples/Photo Album by Vivan Sundaram, Colours of Absence (on Jehangir Sabavala) by Arun Khopkar, Life of a Double by Pratul Dash and A day with Sohail and Mariyan by Gigi Scaria. Various other films were screened and were well received.
