What seems to be a set of tanned papers together, hold within them the essence of our world. Hajra Waheed’s “How long does it take for the moonlight to reach us?” are made from found paper, which have been exposed to sunlight in the artists studio for long times, ‘tanning them’ into a subtle beautiful brown yellow tint. A paper, that contains within itself both light, and time. The artist prompts us to think of the way we are consuming natural resources, particularly our fossil fuels; and to instead think of the energy of the sun, a source of life that tells us to be patient, generous and in tune with earth’s natural cycles.

पहली नज़र में भूरे रंग के काग़ज़ मात्र दिख रहे हज़रा वाहिद के काम “हाउ लांग डस इट टेक फॉर द मूनलाइट तो रीच उस”, में वास्तव में हमारी दुनिया का सार है। इस काम को, फाउंड पेपर से बनाया गया है, जिन्हें लंबे समय तक धूप मैं रखा गया है, जिनसे इनका रंग पीला और भूरा होगया है। इस काम मैं, रौशनी और समय, दोनों क़ै द है। कलाकार हमें सोचने के लिए न्योता देती है, सूर्य के बारे में, जो अनंत ऊर्जा का स्रोत है, ऐसे एक समय में जहाँ हम अपने धरती के नीचे पाये जाने वाले ईधन को बहुत तेज़ी से ख़त्म करते जा रहे हैं। वहीद हमें सूरज के बारे में सोचने के लिए प्रेरित करती हैं, जो हमें धैर्यवान, उद्दार होने और धरती के प्राकृतिक चक्रों के सामंजस्य में जीना सिखाता है।
