This series of 16 photographs by Simryn gill, titled channel confront us; while small in size, the subject matter they withhold, is immense, and one of extreme urgency. As you move closer to the images, you will see that the images are of a mangrove forest, at Port Dickinson, littered with all kinds of human produced wasteincluding plastic bags, coloured fabrics and other forms of washed up trash. Through these images, she takes our attention to the transformation of the space over time, while talking of the intricate relationship and effects of globalisation, and migration, and its effect on nature and ecology. What is the real cost, of better technology and lifestyle on the environment?
