'Forest' is a set of poignant photographs by Simryn Gill, taken in on port Dickinson, where she grafts pages from books of famous authors like Charles Darwin, Daniel Da Foe, Mary Shelly and Joseph Conrad to existing trees, vegetation and the landscape. A poetic return, where the paper once made from the tree, is planted back into its source. The landscape, and the intervention by the artist camouflage, almost merging into each other. Through this metaphor, simryn addresses the legacy and impact of colonisation, thinking of return, extraction, renewal, decomposition as well as the relationship of the source and the resource.

'फारेस्ट' नामक सीरीज की यह तस्वीरें पोर्ट डिकिंसन पे ली गई, जहाँ पर सिमरन गिल ने चार्ल्स डार्विन, डेनियल डा फो, मेरी शैली, और जोसफ कोनराड जैसे महान लेखकों और बुद्धिजीवियों की कृतियों में से पन्ने फाड़ कर, आस पास के पेड़ पाउचों और घास में लगा दिए। एक काव्यात्मक लौट की भाँति, यह काग़ज़, जो पेड़ से बना था अपने स्रोत तक वापस पहुँच गया।ऐसा लगता है मानो की यह काग़ज़ की लड़ियाँ पेड़ों की जड़ें बन नीचे की ओर लटक रही हैं। जैसे यह पन्ने, पत्तियाँ बन डालियों को ढक लेंगे। इस अलंकार के द्वारा सिमरन कॉलोनाइजेशन के प्रभाव की ओर हमारा ध्यान आकर्षित करती हैं, और हमें लौटने, पुनर्जन्म, खनन, सदन, और स्रोत और संसाधन के रिश्ते को क़रीब से देखने के लिए प्रेरित करती हैं।
