About the workshop
Saturday Family Workshop
Join an exciting family workshop where the spirit of friendship in Moominvalley meets the art of appliqué and explore how species and communities thrive together through remarkable ecological alliances.
In nature, survival often depends on cooperation. The fig and wasp share one of the most extraordinary partnerships in the plant and animal kingdom – a delicate exchange that ensures both species can thrive. Inspired by the world of the Moomins, where friendships and interdependence are central, this family workshop uses the art of appliqué to understand and celebrate these ecological bonds. Through engaging storytelling and hands-on creation, participants will reflect on the importance of mutual support in both imagined and natural worlds. They will also get a chance to explore how interdependence sustains life on our planet.
Audience takeaways:
- Understand the concept of mutualism and its role in biodiversity
- Explore how art can communicate scientific ideas in accessible ways
- Build awareness of the delicate balance required for ecosystems to thrive
- Take home a handcrafted artwork that reflects both creativity and ecological learning
While you're here, explore the first-ever Moomin presentation in India - “Moomin 80 - The Door is Always Open” at KNMA Saket and let it inspire you!
