Neha Choksi’s Dust to mountain is an Installation made from printed sheer fabric curtain, and a single channel video. As you move closer, you will see three large curtains, with a printed landscape, and on the floor towards your right, a video of the artist pushing, kicking; exerting immense energy on the rocks. Here, A translucent sky, is at your feet. This rock is not merely an object, but substance; of thinking, of work, of construction, of deconstruction. In a very famous greek story, sisyphus- a king who was cursed by the gods, is forced to push a circular rock up a mountain for eternity. Great philosophers, writers, thinkers have often thought of the pain of sisyphus, and the futility of his actions. But Have we ever paused for a second, to think, how did that rock feel, and what how do these rocks feel when the artist here, keeps pushing them? I urge you, to see this video fully; and to embody the stone, and try to understand the complex relationship of ecology and human beings, as hinted by the artist.
