Neha Choksi’s wondrous “Everythiing sun bright” is a 4 channel installation with 3 projections and one screen. The work beautifully combines the artists journey, and various facets of her interest in the sun as a subject. Each channel of the video, corresponds to a different project. The first channel shows children drawing their idea of the sun, each paired with a professional like archaeologist, folk singing, etc in Dhaka art summit, reflecting together what the sun means to them. The next channel, shows a work called “Memory of the last sunset” and “The Sun’s rehearsal”, where an aging dancer, Alice Cummins, through her performative gestures, thinks of an aging sun, prompting us to think deeply, how the sun, although seemingly eternal, will also one day come to the end. In ancient civilisations, and today; one of the biggest anxieties have always been ‘the disappearance of the sun’; a final, fatal, sunset. The next channel includes the work “Weather inside me”, which documents a single sunset taken from her family’s crematorium, of which a photograph burns in her hand. All these works, in so many ways open up the cosmological, personal, astronomical, historical layers of the world for the artist, thinking of the cycles of life and death. After all, when was the last time we truly thought, how important the sun is to us, and what if, it were to disappear tomorrow?

“एवरीथिंग सनब्राइट” नेहा चौकसी द्वारा बनाया एक ४ चैनल इंस्टालेशन है जिसमे ३ प्रोजेक्टर्स और एक स्क्रीन है। इस काम में कलाकार का निजी और कलात्मक सफ़र बहुत खूबसूरती से दर्शाया गया है, जिसका एक मुख्य भाग सूरज के प्रति उनका स्नेह, और जिज्ञासा है। इस इंस्टालेशन का हर चैनल, एक अलग काम है, जिसका मुख्य किरदार सूर्य है। पहला चैनल ढाका आर्ट समिट मैं नेहा द्वारा किए गए काम को दर्शाता हैं, जिसमे बच्चों को उनका पसंदीदा सूरज बनाने का कार्य दिया गया, और फिर एक विशेषज्ञ, जैसे की पुरातत्व वैज्ञानिक, या फिर लोकगायक, इत्यादि ने बच्चों के साथ मिलकर उनके बनाये सूरज के बारे में विचार किया। उसके साथ चल रहे चैनल में “मेमोरी ऑफ़ थे लास्ट सनसेट” और “द संस रिहर्सल” नमक काम हैं, जिसमे एक बूढ़ी होती नर्तकी एक बूढ़े होते सूरज के बारे में हमें विचार करने के लिए न्योता देती हैं। पहली सभ्यताओं, और समकालीन सभ्यताओं में भी, आज भी सबसे बड़े चिंतन है एक ऐसा ढलता सूरज, जो अगले दिन नहीं उगेगा। अगले चैनल मैं, चौकसी का काम “वेदर इनसाइड में” हैं जो की नेहा के पुश्तैनी श्मशान में कैमरे से क़ै द किए हुए एक सूर्यास्त एक वीडियो में से निकली एक तस्वीर है, जिसे हम कलाकार के हाथ मैं जलता हुआ देखते हैं। इन सब कामों में हम देखते हैं कि कलाकार सूरज के बिषय से निजी, भ्रमांडीय, अंतरिक्ष, और इतिहास के नजरिये से जीवन और मृत्यु के चक्र के बारे में सोचती हैं। क्या हमने कभी बैठकर सोचा है, की वास्तव मैं सूरज हमारे लिए कितना ज़रूरी है, और यदि वह कल ना उगा, तो क्या होगा?
