LIVING ON AN INCLINE

Two days of performances, readings and discussion sessions at the HANGAR FOR THE PASSERBY

Curated by Akansha Rastogi

This two day symposium ‘Living on an Incline’ is organised in conjunction with the exhibition ‘Hangar for the Passerby’ curated by Akansha Rastogi at KNMA-Noida. It brings together artists and scholars from different generations who have been part of artists’ collectives or worked in collaborative environments. Choreographed as the second meeting at the Hangar, a laboratory-storage-repairing studio, the two intense days will open up conversations on artist’s time and what constitutes artistic work, slime molds, exhibition design and expand on ideas around collectivity and moments of transference across generations and artists-groups in India as presented in the exhibition. The program is interspersed with performances by Murari Jha, Preeti Singh and Neha Tickoo, and reading of letter exchanges between artist Haku Shah and art historian Stella Kramrisch during the period of their co-curating ‘India Unknown’ exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 1965. On the occasion of this gathering new works by Preeti Singh, Niroj Sathpathy, Suryakant Swain and Rashmi Kaleka have been added to the Hangar.
