Nature Study

About the Event

Celebrating Watercolour Month through a series of engaging Saturday Family Workshops, Kiran Nadar Museum of Art invites children and families to discover the many creative possibilities of this expressive medium.

As part of this celebration, 'Nature Study' offers participants the opportunity to step into the world of watercolour and discover how artists turn simple moments in nature into powerful visual stories. This engaging Saturday family workshop welcomes children and adults to observe, imagine, and paint elements of the natural world—trees, birds, skies, and landscapes—using watercolour techniques.

Inspired by the evocative works of Gulam Mohammed Sheikh, this session begins with a guided walkthrough of select artworks. This will help participants notice how nature is thoughtfully placed and how it carries an emotional charge within an artwork.

Participants will then explore foundational watercolour methods like washes, blending, and dry brush detailing.

Audience Takeaways:

  • Learn basic watercolour techniques such as layering, blending, and washes
  • Develop observational skills through art viewing and discussion
  • Explore how artists build visual narratives inspired by nature
  • Create a personalised watercolour painting rooted in natural elements
  • Enjoy a creative and calming experience with your family
