From Santhal Family to Mill Re-call A Film by RV Ramani

As part of the ongoing Vivan Sundaram’s retrospective, KNMA organised a screening of the film 'From Santhal Family to Mill Re-call' (winner of Best Long Documentary at MIFF 2018 ), directed by prolific filmmaker RV Ramani. The film traces the interdisciplinary project '409 Ramkinkars' initiated and conceptualised by Vivan Sundaram in collaboration with many practitioners, and was first hosted at Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA) in 2015. The project is a re-take on the work and times of acclaimed modernist sculptor Ramkinker Baij (1910-1980), and was in collaboration between theatre practitioners, writers, artists and actors. Ramani brings his own readings and cinematic gaze to this highly referential project.
